Bicyclist Killed in Collision on SR-299 Cedar Pass

A 20-year-old woman driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado struck and killed a bicyclist on State Route 299 Cedar Pass on Monday evening, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision occurred at approximately 7 p.m., east of Milepost Marker 53.85. According to the CHP, both the Silverado and the bicyclist, who was riding a Giant Speeder, were traveling westbound when the front of the truck hit the rear of the bicycle.

The bicyclist sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the Silverado was not injured.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the bicyclist.

The CHP stated that neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation and will provide more information once the investigation has concluded.
