AmeriCorps Members of Modoc County make an effort to host local family events

AmeriCorps members in Modoc County have been busy hosting events for local families and care providers since last fall. The director of First 5 Modoc, Nicole Hinton, expressed gratitude towards members Elizabeth Conner and Elizabeth Kiser at the Modoc County Children and Families Commission in June. Hinton stated, “Both members have been an asset to our First 5 team, hosting library pop-up events, arranging concrete supports for families, and being a huge help to preschool sites, including Budding Tree and Alturas Head Start.” Both members gained extensive knowledge in child health, education, and family engagement by working in the early childhood field. Hinton expressed her appreciation, saying, “I am encouraged by my team and can’t thank them enough for their efforts over this last year.”  On August 8th, the AmeriCorps team will host a recruitment event at the Modoc College Center beginning at 3 p.m. Located at 701 N Main St, Alturas, CA 96101. Individuals aged 18 years and older are welcome to learn about available positions this year, including parent educator and early learning instructor.
