TEACH Adult Education Receives Grant

This year, TEACH Adult Education received an $8000 grant from our local Dollar General.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation was established in 1993 by Cal Turner and Cal Turner Jr. to honor Dollar General’s co-founder, JL. Turner, who was a farmer’s son with only a third- grade education.

When you shop at Dollar General, you have the option to round up your purchase to the nearest dollar. That extra change goes directly to the Round Up for Literacy fund, which is then distributed as grants to organizations that need it most. It might not seem like much, but you’d be surprised how a few cents here and there can add up to make a big impact.

Dollar General partners with adult, family, and local organizations who are dedicated to

promoting literacy. Through the Round Up for Literacy Grant, Dollar General provides much- needed financial support to help them expand their initiatives and reach even more individuals who can benefit from improved access to reading materials, tutoring services, and educational Programs.

So, the next time you shop at Dollar General, take a moment to round up your purchase and know that every penny you donate will make a real difference in someone’s life. Together, we can make a positive impact on literacy rates in our communities and empower individuals through the gift of knowledge.
