LEGAL NOTICE ORDINANCE NO. 531

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ALTURAS AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING TO CHAPTER 5, ARTICLE VIII – RENTAL HOUSING INSPECTION PROGRAM

        WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Alturas does ordain as follows:

Section 1.  The following shall be added to the Chapter 5, Article VIII as follows:

In Summary: The public interest demands that all rental housing properties comply with the minimum standards regarding the health and safety of the public. The most effective way to see universal compliance with the minimum standards is through routine periodic inspections of all rental housing properties. Accordingly, it is the intent of the Alturas City Council to enact the provisions of this chapter as the basis for establishing a rental housing inspection program aimed at securing city-wide compliance of rental housing properties with minimum standards.

A full copy of the ordinance is available for review at the Alturas City Clerk’s Office, Alturas City Hall, 200 W. North Street, Alturas, CA 96101.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days from the date of its passage.  Before the expiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage, this Ordinance shall be published in the Modoc Record, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the City of Alturas in a manner meeting the requirements of California Government Code Sections 36931 through 36937.

There will be a public hearing for the second reading for this ordinance at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall.
