Victims Rights Week

In Modoc County, the District Attorney’s Office is gearing up to observe National Crime Victims Rights Week, running from April 21st to April 27th. Established in 1981 by President Ronald Reagan, this week aims to raise awareness about victimization and its profound impact on individuals, families, and communities. The Modoc County District Attorney’s Office is actively participating in this national movement through a series of events.

One notable event that The Districts Attorneys Office just partaked in was the Annual Denim Day Walk scheduled for April 24th, which symbolizes solidarity with victims of sexual assault. Additionally, on April 25th, the District Attorney’s Office will introduce Modoc County’s inaugural Champion of Courage Award, recognizing a commendable law enforcement officer, and the Citizen of Courage Award, honoring a victim who has displayed remarkable bravery.

The success of these initiatives is made possible through collaborative efforts with community partners such as the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol (CHP), and local establishments like Holiday Market, Grocery Outlet, The Likely General Store, Adin Community Center, Cedarville’s Vault Coffee Shop, and Canby’s Coffee Adventure. Their involvement demonstrates a shared commitment to supporting and empowering victims of crime in Modoc County, fostering a culture of resilience and compassion that will endure for years to come.
