Kids Day at Rotary Fields

TEACH, Inc Modoc Child Care Resource and Referral, in collaboration with First 5 Modoc, is thrilled to announce the revival of “Kids Day” after a five-year break. The event is set to take place on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Alturas Rotary Ball Fields on West C Street in Alturas.

Formerly known as “Morning in the Park,” this eagerly anticipated day promises a plethora of exciting activities tailored for families and providers with children aged five and under.

Nicole Hinton, director of First 5 Modoc, revealed, “Our theme this year is the Five Senses.” She added, “AmeriCorps members have been collaborating with local partners to organize a variety of hands-on activities aimed at enhancing gross and fine motor skills, and above all, fostering play.” According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children, play plays a crucial role in children’s development. Before mastering the use of language to inquire about the world, young children explore it using their senses, observing, listening, tasting, smelling, touching, and moving at their own pace to expand their knowledge and understanding.

This event will provide the community with countless memories and community attendance will lead to many more years of “Kids Day” to look forward to every year.

An array of esteemed partners will contribute to the day’s festivities, including Advancing Modoc, Alturas City Fire Department, CalFire, California Highway Patrol, Modoc County Health Services, Modoc County Sheriff’s Office, Modoc Early Head Start, Modoc Outdoor Recreation and Tourism (MORT), Pit River Health Service, Strong Family Health Center, and Modoc National Forest Service.
