BEFORE THE MODOC LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the MODOC Local Agency Formation Commission will hold a public hearing regarding the following:
A REQUEST from Modoc County (LAFCo File 2025-0001) to for the dissolution of the Stronghold Newell Pest Abatement District, which will be completed subject to formation of a benefit zone in the Countywide County Service Area #2. The CSA will serve as a successor agency to provide Weed Management and Pest Abatement services within benefit zones in the unincorporated territory in Modoc County.
All interested parties have the right to appear and be heard at this time. For further information please contact the Modoc Local Agency Formation Commission, (310)936- 2639 or by email jennifer@pcateam.com during regular business hours or visit the LAFCo webpage at www.modoclafco.org to review the Executive Officer’s report, which will be available 5 days prior to the hearing.
The Commission will consider oral and written testimony by any interested person or affected agency as well as the report of the Executive Officer. At the hearing, the Commission may approve or disapprove a proposal with or without amendment, wholly, partially, or conditionally, may include or exclude territory in this change of organization or may continue its consideration with or without amendment, as a whole, in part, or upon such conditions as the Commission may determine.
Persons may attend and be heard at the time and place of the hearing. If you challenge the action of the Commission on the above item in court, it may be limited to only those issues raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the Modoc Local Agency Formation Commission at, or prior to, the public hearing.
The public hearing will be held in the Alturas City Council Chambers at 200 North Street in Alturas on the 3rd day of June 2025 at 4:00 P.M., at which time and place interested persons may attend and be heard.
