Roaring Return: Stock Cars Storm Cedarville Raceway

The roar of engines echoed clearly across the lakebed as stock-car racing thundered back into Surprise Valley on Saturday, July 19, with the West Coast Pro Stocks series returning to Cedarville Raceway at the Modoc District Fairgrounds.

The quarter-mile clay oval—officially listed as one-third mile—hosted a full night of action, with hobby stocks and outlaw karts preceding the 40-lap Pro Stock main event. The first green flag dropped at 6 p.m., drawing a lively crowd of families and racing fans.

Participants came from across Northern California and surrounding states, racing V‑8–powered late models tipping the scales at about 3,100 pounds and reaching speeds over 100 mph on the short straights.

Advance tickets were available at Modoc Farm Supply, Napa Auto Parts, Pacific Crest Credit Union, Modoc Steel, and online via the Modoc Heritage Foundation; general admission was $15, free for children 4 and under.

The event was organized by the Modoc Heritage Foundation, which will direct a portion of proceeds toward facility improvements at the fairgrounds.
