Job Summary: The Health Education Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating outreach and training events, conducting one-on-one or group education sessions, assisting with the development of outreach materials, and staying up-to-date on evidence-based practices relevant to their assigned program area. Additional duties include assisting with data collection, report writing, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, and other tasks as assigned. Program assignments may focus on areas such as injury prevention, tobacco policy and education, communicable disease, home visiting, oral health, nutrition education, vaccine education, and/or emergency preparedness. Assignments will be based on program needs and the applicant’s area of expertise.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills. A typical qualification includes the completion of two years of college or an Associate of Arts degree in health sciences, social sciences, or a related field. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. The ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal abilities.
