Modoc Supervisors Address Waste Appeals, Mental Health Contracts, and more at July Meetings

The Modoc County Board of Supervisors met twice in July to consider a wide range of scheduled actions related to public services, environmental planning, and departmental agreements.

At the July 8 meeting, the board scheduled a public hearing on fiscal year 2024–2025 solid waste appeals. A determination on those appeals was listed under Public Works.

Supervisors also planned to vote on a resolution recognizing Support Services Administrator Cindy Mohr for her service, and to review a letter of opposition to Assembly Bill 532, which the board described as undermining local agency permitting authority.

Other items on the July 8 agenda included contracts with the California Air Resources Board, the Behavioral Health Data Project, and CalMHSA. The board also scheduled votes on recurring behavioral health agreements and investment policy amendments.

At the July 22 meeting, supervisors scheduled presentations and several resolutions recognizing retiring employees, including Bryan Cain, Cheryl Knoch, and Cindy Mohr.

A presentation by ORMAT Technologies was scheduled to provide updates on proposed geothermal projects in Modoc County. Additional contracts were listed for behavioral health providers, social services consultants, and public health storage leases.

The Sheriff’s Office was scheduled to request funding for a DUI simulation tool valued at over $36,000, as well as advertising contracts for public safety outreach. Other items on the July 22 agenda included a salary adjustment for the Road Commissioner, a wildfire prevention grant support letter, and participation agreements for countywide planning efforts.

Resolutions were also scheduled concerning pest abatement districts, watermaster charges, and library assessment collections. A new Social Worker II position was listed for hiring consideration, effective August 1.

No official minutes from either meeting had been posted as of July 23.
