Reports To: Executive Director. Employment Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt. Starting Salary Range: $17–$19 per hour (DOE). (After completion of a probationary period, an employee qualifies for a fringe benefit package of medical, dental, vision and life insurances, a 401 (k)-retirement package and 13 paid holidays annually. These benefits are equivalent to approximately an additional $10 per hour.) POSITION SUMMARY: The Family Service Worker / Youth Services Coordinator provides direct support, transportation, and academic assistance to Native American children and families. This role is responsible for organizing and delivering culturally relevant services and educational support, including Title VI tutoring, youth group coordination, family goal planning, and developmental screening support. Program priorities may vary based on grant and funding requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain confidential records for all clients, including academic records (IEPs, 504s), developmental assessments, and family needs.• Provide K–12 tutoring support to Native American students under the Title VI Indian Education Program, including after-school sessions and in-school pull-out programs. • Plan and facilitate weekly youth groups, playgroups, and culturally appropriate activities that promote engagement and family participation. • Coordinate and host Quarterly Parent Advisory Committee meetings. • Assist families in developing and achieving academic and family stability goals. • Collaborate with SFHC staff, local school districts, and community agencies to coordinate services, referrals, and screening opportunities. • Plan and lead Caregiver/Parent Education workshops and trainings. • Transport children and families as needed to and from services, appointments, or group activities. • Prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks during sessions. • Set up and clean-up program spaces before and after activities. • Submit monthly activity reports to the Executive Director. QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience: • High School Diploma required. • AA/AS degree or minimum of 12 semester units in Human Development, Child Development, or a related field preferred. • Experience working with Native American/Alaska Native populations and underserved communities. • Experience with tutoring, family support services, and client-facing community work. Required Certifications:
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification. • Valid California Driver’s License/Real ID and insurable by SFHC's insurance provider. Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Understanding of IEPs, 504 plans, and Title VI Indian Education support. • Familiarity with child developmental screening tools. • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities. • Experience in conducting home visits and navigating the child welfare or court systems. • Comfortable with standard office technology and record-keeping systems. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs. • Sit for extended periods or on the floor/low stool during group sessions. • Drive to various client homes, schools, and training sites. DRIVING AND ABILITY TO TRAVEL: Current California Driver’s License / Real ID and insurable per Strong Family Health Center automobile insurance carrier. Employee must be able to travel to workshops and trainings; overnight travel is required. Travel is primarily within California, however, can be nationally.
