Modoc National Forest Welcomes New Acting Forest Supervisor

Acting Modoc National Forest Supervisor with family at the Sisters Rodeo Parade

The Modoc National Forest is pleased to welcome Ian Reid as the interim Forest Supervisor for the next 120 days, beginning his detail with the forest on August 5th. Ian has served as a district ranger on the Deschutes National Forest in Sisters, Oregon for the last seven years. Prior to this role, he held the position of district ranger in northeastern Oregon and has had other various temporary leadership assignments. Ian is an advanced level agency administrator with experience in serving as agency administrator on wildfires and all-risk incidents throughout the Pacific Northwest. 

Apart from his involvement in fire-related work, Ian also has experience in range, minerals, timber management, fisheries, wilderness, and recreation. He has earned a BS in biology and fisheries science from Southern Oregon University and Oregon State University, as well as a MS in ecology from SOU. When he’s off duty, Ian enjoys hunting and fishing, whitewater rafting, trail running, and snowboarding. He lives in Sisters with his wife Annie, who he has been married to for 21 years, their two teenage daughters, and two bird dogs. 

Ian shared “I am excited to work with the caring and dedicated employees of the Modoc National Forest and to support the local communities and tribal partners who depend on the natural resources found on the Modoc.”
