Alturas Community Pool Set to Open in June After Overcoming Multiple Challenges

Community Anticipates a Fun-Filled Summer Following Extensive Repairs and Staffing Efforts

The Alturas Community Pool is set to open in the first or second week of June after facing numerous obstacles since 2020. The global pandemic initially delayed operations, followed by a year or two of inactivity, which led to the need for extensive repairs. Once these repairs were completed, staffing shortages presented another challenge.

With new employees beginning their training, the community is looking forward to a successful and enjoyable summer at the pool. Local residents have expressed excitement about the reopening, emphasizing the importance of the pool as a hub for summer activities and community gatherings.

In 2022, the City of Alturas Pool Committee received a $945,182 grant through the Proposition 68 Rural Recreation and Tourism Program. This funding was used to complete the first phase of the new pool facility for the community. Out of 80 applicants, only 14 were selected, and Alturas was one of the fortunate recipients. The grant facilitated the construction of modern amenities, enhancing the overall experience for pool-goers.

Community members are encouraged to support the Alturas Pool to ensure its continued success in the coming years. By participating in fundraising events, volunteering, and utilizing the pool’s services, residents can help maintain and improve this valuable community resource.

The reopening of the Alturas Community Pool marks a significant milestone for the city, symbolizing our community’s ever growing support. As the pool prepares to welcome back swimmers of all ages, the anticipation and enthusiasm are eminent. The Alturas Community Pool opening up again is more than just a place to swim; it is a testament to the city’s dedication to providing quality recreational opportunities for its residents.
