Visit the Bookworm 

Attached to the Alturas library for our HALF-PRICE sale on all hardcover books, including children’s books! (Books, DVDs, and CDs priced at $2 or less.) Open M, T, Th, F noon to 4 pm.

Saturday June 1st

The Alturas Garden Club Yard Sale

The Alturas Garden Club will be holding a Plant and Yard Sale this Saturday June 1st from 8am to 2pm.

Quality items and plants from local gardens will be available.

June 1st at the Historical Whistle Stop Depot. 

Support Blue Lake Camp with Bingo

The Community Club of Cal-Pines will be hosting Bingo night Saturday June 1st from 6-8 PM at the California Pines Lodge. The bar and restaurant will be open to take food and drink orders and orders are welcome in the event room during bingo. We anticipate playing 10 games, players may choose how many cards they would like to play per game. Each Sheet is $2.00 and has 4 cards. 

Proceeds from this event will be donated to Blue Lake Summer Camp to assist with a renovation project necessary to keep the camp operational. 

Prize donations are always appreciated and suggestions of programs/events to donate proceeds to are always welcome!

VFW Yard Sale

The VFW is hosting a yard sale on Saturday, June 1, at 8 a.m. It is at 314 Chukar Lane, Alturas. For information contact Sean Provart 530-708-0660. Proceeds benefit Veterans in need of assistance. Please no early birds.

Alturas Chamber of Commerce Flea Market & Yard Sales

Alturas Chamber of Commerce Flea Market/Yard Sales will be held June 1st, 2024. Since the weather was not good on May 4th, they have decided to schedule them for June 1, 2024 along with the pulled pork lunch. They can purchase presale lunch tickets at Ship Right and Plumas Bank. And if they want to have a vendor booth or yard sale and be put on the map, they can contact Dianna Bass @ 530-708-1086. 

Sunday June 2nd

VFW Bingo 

Many incentives are being added to the Veterans Bingo, so the winnings are even bigger! The Guaranteed Blackout of $200 (donated in memory of Mary Richardson by her husband Jimmy Richardson, will continue with an additional $100 for the pot throughout 2024.

Also, even more $100 “Hot Balls” could ultimately give a winner $500, when combined with the $200 Blackout.

Veterans Bingo takes place at the Veteran’s Hall, South Main Street in Alturas. Doors open at 11 a.m. – At noon enjoy a potluck lunch (bring a favorite dish to share). Bingo starts at 1 p.m. and if you bring a new guest, you get a free game six-pack!

VFW Auxiliary and Post donates the proceeds to scholarships for Veterans’ children who graduate from Modoc High School. Come on out and play! Players must be at least 18 years old.

Monday June 3rd

Alturas Country Jam

Alturas Country Jam welcomes the public to enjoy the music on Monday evenings from 6:30-9 pm at the Federated Church, 307 E. 1st St. Alturas. Bring your voice, bring your instrument or come to listen. Admission is free. Donations go to the church for supplies. Everyone is welcome.

Tuesday June 4th

Modoc Crazy Quilters

Modoc Crazy Quilters gather every Tuesday at the Federated Church from 9 am-3pm. Come and go as you can, bring a project or just come visit.

Wednesday June 5th

Modoc Gamers Guild

Modoc Gamer Guild welcomes new members. All ages are welcome. Meet every Thursday at the Family Health Center at 6 pm. For questions call or contact Andrew 530-708-1680

Behavioral Health Advisory Board Meeting/Public hearing

The first of planned monthly lunch gatherings for 1972 Classmates will be held at Arrowhead Golf Course on Wed., June 12, at 11:30 a.m. Please call Glenda at 530-640-2794 to confirm that you can make it.

Summer Saturdays 

Summer Saturdays are kicking off this June 8th from 1 pm-9:30 pm on Main St. in Cedarville. There will be cornhole tournaments, raffles, great food, and a family movie on the Cressler House lawn. There will be countless vendors present promoting their business while the Surprise Valley Chamber of Commerce is searching for more vendors to be present as well. Summers Saturdays will take place June 8th, July 13th, and August 10th.
