City election close, not decided

The Modoc County election office has not reported changes in the Alturas City Council election, that is close between four candidates. The top three winners will be seated on the council.

The preliminary data showed Jodi Larranaga with a solid lead at 334 votes. Jennifer Engle has 196 votes as does Duanna Knighton. Current City Mayor Kelly Crosby is close with 194 votes. Cheryl Nelson has 164 votes, Kevin Marcussen has 132 and Cynthia Pena has 102.

Alturas City Clerk Tacie Wheeler received 410 affirmative votes for re-election. In County Supervisor races, largely unchallenged, Kathie Rhodes earned another term as Supervisor District Three with 289 votes; Shane Starr gets another term in District Two with 326 votes; and Casey Cockrell got the nod for District four with 359 votes.
