2024 Shasta Cascade League Softball Champions!!

Modoc Softball, The Lady Braves are the outright 2024 Shasta Cascade League!

The Lady Braves won the league title with two wins against Weed on Friday, May 3rd on their home field.

Caelli DePaul got the 4-0 win on the mound for the Braves, striking out 11 of the 26 batters faced. In the 3rd inning, she reached an impressive career milestone, achieving her 500th strikeout in her high school career, as a junior. She was celebrated during a timeout on the mound with a framed picture and kept the ball thrown for her 500th strikeout as a keepsake.

The first game was a slow one for the Braves at bat as Abby DePaul was the only Brave to get a hit, and she managed to get 2, driving in one of the runs, and crossing the plate once herself. The Braves defense was clutch with only 2 errors for the whole team, which allowed them to keep the Weed Cougars off of the bases and away from home plate.

In game two C. DePaul got the 12-0 win on the mound again in 5 innings. She struck out a whopping 9 of 16 batters faced, giving up just one hit and one walk. At bat, the Braves woke up a little bit, Ashlynn Albright making the biggest impact with 3 hits and 4 RBIs, one of her hits being a true inside the park homerun (no defensive errors made). Ally Pena, Mya Sharp, Abby Newell, Caelli DePaul, and Aubree Knighton each getting a hit of their own. Pena, Sharp, and Newell each earned one RBI. Once again, stellar defense when contact was made as there were no defensive errors for the Braves in game 2.

Congratulations to Caelli DePaul for getting strikeout #500 in her high school career! An amazing accomplishment!

We are currently awaiting results for playoff seeding to determine where and when our first round play-off game will be, but we are hopeful for a home play-off game!
